All staff receive 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, rising to 30 days. Pro rata for part time staff.
Hours
The number of hours in a normal working week is 35.
Probation
New employees will be subject to a 6 month probationary period.
Employee development
As an Investor in People, we give a high priority to training and developing our staff, and have a learning and development programme in place which supports our business plan.
As well as having an annual performance evaluation review, and monthly 1-2-1s, our employees are encouraged to discuss their training needs through the year.
The association holds an annual staff conference as well as other training events that are designed to improve communication and understanding.
Pension scheme
The association’s staff can join the Social Housing Pension Scheme. This is currently a contributory final salary scheme with the Pension’s Trust.
Right to work
In accordance with the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996, we require new members of staff to provide documentary evidence that they are legally entitled to live and work in the UK before we can issue a contract of employment.
Criminal convictions
All candidates are asked to declare criminal convictions. A criminal conviction is not necessarily a bar to employment. If you have declared a criminal conviction this will only be considered if you are selected for interview. If the interview panel believe this to have a bearing on the requirements of the post, this will be discussed further with you.
Criminal Records Bureau
All positions involving contact with Elim Housing Group service users will require a criminal records check from the Criminal Records Bureau under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. However, possession of a criminal record, either current or spent, will not necessarily prohibit an offer of employment.

Smoking
A smoking ban currently applies to all the association’s offices. With effect from 1 July 2007, the association will comply with the new smokefree regulations in all our premises.
References
Please ensure your referees are aware you have given their name as a contact and are prepared to provide a reference for you. We ask applicants to provide their most recent line managers as referees.
References for jobs are usually taken up for successful applicants after verbal acceptance of a job offer. If however, we do need to take references up prior to interview, we will not do so without your consent (given on the application form).
Salary payment
Payment of salaries is made monthly, on the 15th of the month, through the BACS system (Bank Automated Clearing Services) direct to your bank or building society account.
