12 new Gypsy & Traveller pitches

We have started the new year by expanding the number of Gypsy and Traveller pitches we have in management.

Thanks to a 10 year lease with Bristol City Council, we are now managing 12 pitches at Rosemeadow View in the south of the city.  All of the pitches on the site are currently occupied but any future vacancies will be allocated through Bristol City Councils Gypsy and Traveller Services Team who can be contacted on 0117 352 5009.

Elim’s Gypsy and Traveller Service Manager, Graham Devine, said “This is a great addition to our Gypsy and Traveller Service and we are looking forward to getting to know and working with the current residents over the coming months.”

40 new homes for Gloucester

Elim Housing is pleased to be able to share the news that we will be working with Linden Homes to provide 40 new homes in Quedgeley, Gloucester.

The new homes, which are part of the Kingsway development, include a small block of 12 flats and a mix of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom houses.  The first properties should be completed this Autumn (2016)  with the remaining properties being completed over the next 2 to 3 years.

There will be one accessible flat which will be let at social rent along with 13 of the houses.   These will be advertised through Gloucestershire Homeseeker when they become available.

We will be selling 7 of the houses outright at 75% of their value to qualifying persons in the Gloucester area and the remaining flats and houses will be available through shared ownership.

Shared ownership is a scheme which allows you to part buy and part rent a home.  You purchase a share in the property, for this scheme the minimum amount will be 40%, and then pay a low cost rent on the remaining share.   It is often an affordable alternative to renting or buying on the open market, especially as you only need to raise a deposit for the share you are purchasing.

These properties will be available as they near completion through www.helptobuysouth.co.uk where you can find more information about shared ownership including eligibility.

Seeing is Believing

Ron Jones

Back in December, staff and residents at Ron Jones House in Bristol were visited by a number of Bristol’s top employers as part of a Seeing is Believing project.

Established 25 years ago by HRH The Prince of Wales, Seeing is Believing was born from a simple idea - to close the gap between the boardroom and the community.

As part of a wider day of events, senior business leaders from Bond Dickinson LLP, Clarke Wilmott LLP, Imperial Tobacco Group, Nisbetts and JLL, spent time at Ron Jones House to learn more about the barriers into employment and to
