Making life easier for disabled residents

People who are disabled, or have disabled children, benefit from having their homes fitted with rails, ramps, a stairlift or a shower. Others prefer to move, but may need help to find the right property.

Resident action

Responsibility for adaptations and accessible homes is shared between Housing Associations and the City Council. To make sure the service runs smoothly there is a Local Agreement. A residents group helps to make sure all the partners are delivering what they promised.

Get involved

Join this friendly and active group - you could make a big difference. You might be disabled yourself, or just want to help improve services.

The next meeting: Wed 20th Feb 10.30am – 1.30pm

Help with transport is available if needed. Lunch will be provided.

Estate inspection programme

February 2013

We have updated the information on our estate inspections and you can now look up dates and times of planned walkabouts between now and June.

Following feedback from residents we have tried to vary the day and time for each walkabout to allow as many people the opportunity to join us as possible.

We will still write out at least a week before to remind you that a walkabout is due to take place.

The benefits system is changing.

February 2013

We realise that for our customers these are worrying times with all the changes in the welfare benefits system that are being talked about more and more in the media.

We are committed to supporting our customers in understanding how these changes will affect them and what they need to do to respond to these changes.

We have added a new section to our website called Benefit changes which has information on Universal Credit, Underoccupation, Benefit cap, Non-dependant deductions, Other benefit changes and Managing your money.  As your landlord we want to provide as much information advice and support as possible to assist you in these matters so if you want us to provide more information on the website or in our newsletter please Contact us to let us know.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any clarification on any of the information provided or arrange for a housing officer to visit you at your property – Remember we are here to help!
