Living Wage Week 2023

Elim Housing have been accredited Living Wage employers since 2021 and as part of our ongoing commitment to ensure people are at the heart of our business, we want our colleagues to feel supported and valued for the hard work they do.

In the current climate, financial worries can be a huge source of burden. Mental Health resource Mind have published their support in helping people with money worries as outlined here, and at Elim, we understand our obligation in ensuring as far as possible that our colleagues have a decent standard of life and wellbeing for themselves, and their families.

We are pleased to be part of a growing community of Living Wage employers and continue our mission of creating positive and sustainable impacts in the communities we serve.

Jane Okonkwo, Head of HR said: “We feel now more than ever, it’s important for Elim to be part of and promote the Living Wage Foundation’s campaign. As well as continuing to pay our colleagues fairly, we hope to influence our partners to become accredited Living Wage employers too.”

The real Living Wage is the only UK wage rate based on the cost of living. It is voluntarily paid by over 14,000 UK businesses who believe their staff deserve a wage which meets everyday needs. Since 2011 the Living Wage movement has delivered a pay rise to over 450,000 people and put over £2 billion extra into the pockets of low paid workers.

The new Living Wage rates for 2023-24 were announced on the 24th October 2023. The UK Living Wage for outside of London is currently £12.00 per hour.
